O-Cedar’s Clean Team: Katie, Scrunge Super Fan & Cake Decorating Champ

Just like the Ultimate Clean Team, we have a team of our own made up of high performers, working hard every day to help you keep your home clean.

Meet one of them, our Senior Product Manager, Katie. Katie is a 4-time cake decorating champion with a cat named Milo, who’s always making a mes s. Read on to learn more about Katie.

What is something only a few people know about you that others would be surprised to learn?

Most people would be surprised to know that I am a 4-time cake decorating champion. I started decorating cakes when I was in the 4th grade and went on to participate in cake decorating contests. My favorite cake was a Christmas scene. I had a lot of fun decorating it and it went on to win!

What are some of the things you love about your job?

I love the people I work with. We can joke around while getting our work done, and we also get to learn a lot from each other about the products we make and about cleaning in general. My family now considers me a cleaning pro, but I do know a lot more about cleaning now, than ever before.

Since working at O-Cedar what are some cleaning hacks or tips you’ve learned?

Before working at O-Cedar, I used microfiber cloths only when I was cleaning my car. I never thought about using microfiber in the house as well. Now, I use microfiber everywhere. It’s great for streak free cleaning and O-Cedar’s microfiber mops remove 99% of bacteria with just water*. I also didn’t know how great the Scrunge is. It scrubs better than any other cleaning sponge I’ve ever had and it lasts longer than sponges I’ve used in the past.

What does your typical week of cleaning activities look like and how has it changed since you started working from home?

I don’t really have a cleaning routine. I clean as needed, and I use a lot of visual clues to know when I need to clean. Since working from home, I’ve been cooking a lot more and trying new recipes but that also means I’ve been doing the dishes a lot more.

Who is the messiest person in your home and why?

My cat Milo is by far the messiest. He’s always leaving messes around the house. He likes pulling his food out of his bowl and prefers eating it off the floor instead. He also sheds sometimes and seeing his fur on the floors is a cleaning cue.

What O-Cedar product best represents your personality and why?

The Scrunge totally represents my personality. One side is tough while the other side is soft. It’s also the best kitchen sponge (According to America’s Test Kitchen). I’m a complete super fan!
